How do Air Source Heat Pumps work?

An air source heat pump works by using a refrigerant to absorb heat from the outside air. This is then compressed to increase its temperature, and the resulting heat is transferred to your home's heating system.

Are Air Source Heat Pumps efficient?

Yes, air source heat pumps are very efﬁcient, with some models having an efﬁciency rating of over 300%. This means that for every unit of electricity used to power the heat pump, it can produce over three units of heat energy.

What is the expected life?

They are built to last and can provide reliable heating for 20+ years.

Are Air Source Heat Pumps noisy?

Most air source heat pumps produce a low level of noise, similar to that of a refrigerator.

Are they easy to install?

A standard install will take between 1.5 and 2 days. Due toan ASHP not requiring a ﬂue ora chimney, the installation is a lot quicker and less disruptive.

Will you remove and correctly dispose of my current boiler, cylinder and radiators?

We have a ‘High’ level Government approved waste management license which gives you the peace of mind that everything is disposed of correctly. As soon as the system has been commissioned, we ensure that all areas have been tidied and old equipment is removed from your property.

What happens to my existing tank and radiators?

If a radiator or water tank isn’t fit for purpose it will be replaced. Our technical team design the system for maximum efﬁciency and to meet any speciﬁc needs you might have.

Do they work in cold weather?

Yes, air source heat pumps do work in cold weather, although their efﬁciency may be reduced in extremely low temperatures i.e., -15 degrees. Scandinavia is the largest per capita adopter of heat pumps and that’s despite their extremely harsh winters.

Are they low or high maintenance?

Heat pumps require minimal maintenance, with most our manufacturers offering warranties that cover parts and labour for 7 years. We additionally provide a 2-year workmanship warranty.

How safe are they?

They are safe and easy to use, with no risk of gas leaks or combustion.
